The Grand Ledge Cooperative Preschool (then Nursery) held its first classes  in December of 1961. The preschool was founded by a group of nine mothers, headed by Mrs. Lora Beth Fitzgerald.  There are currently six classes offered.  The classes can accomodate up to 82 children.  We are a cooperative preschool, where the parents take an active role in the education of their children by participating in classroom activities and serving on the Board of Directors and various committees.  The Board of Directors governs the school.  For more information on the board please check out the board information page.  We are licensed by the State of Michigan and Family Independence Agency and must maintain their high standards to remain licensed.

Our Philsophy:
We believe that by providing a safe environment along with opportunities for learning through play, your child will develop physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.  They will develop an increased awareness of themselves and become aware of the moods and feelings of others.  Your child will be encouraged to think, talk, reason, remember, and experiment in a playful atmosphere.  Your child's learning is disguised in play rather than in a structured lecture format-and it's fun!
Non-Discriminatory Policy:
The Grand Ledge Cooperative Preschool admits students of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privelges, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.  The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of their educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, or athletic and other school administered programs.
