What is a Cooperative Preschool?
A cooperative preschool is a non-profit educational and developmental program for young children administered and maintained by parents and licensed by the State of Michigan.

Who is the teacher?

  • The person responsible for a well planned program
  • A person who cares about young children and their parents
  • A qualified professional with appropriate educational background employed by the parent board

Is a Cooperative Preschool Educational?

Yes!  The preschool addresses all areas of the child's development, laying the foundation for later academic achievement:

  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Social and emotional development
  • Decision making

What is expected of the parents?

  • Attend orientation and parent meetings
  • Upon enrollment, parents will choose either our co-op or non co-op option. If you choose to participate in the co-op you will be required to assist the teachers in the classroom periodically, and to volunteer for one of various committees. Should you choose the non co-op option you will not be required to assist in the classroom or be part of a committee. For both options, you will still be required to bring a snack occassionally and provide some school supplies as needed.
  • Assist in the administration and maintence of the preschool
  • Pay reasonable registration and tuition fees
